Project Summary
T Roots, a 3,000-square-foot Taiwanese-style restaurant at 249 Main St, Northampton, MA, offers authentic Taiwanese cuisine in a modern and inviting setting. The owner is looking to transition from the old gas furnace to a fully electric heat pump system and is interested in the benefits, including energy savings, reduced utility costs, and environmental advantages. Additionally, the owner is considering the Mass Save Incentive Program, which may provide significant financial incentives and rebates to support the upgrade.
Solution
Through the Mass Save Incentive Program, eligible business owners in Massachusetts can access energy-saving upgrades to transition their properties to fully electric heating systems. As a participating contractor with the Mass Save Program, we offer no-cost Home Energy Assessments to help customers understand the full benefits of electrifying their heating systems.
For this specific project, we conducted an on-site assessment to evaluate key factors such as the structural integrity of the walls, the suitability of the installation location, and the heating requirements based on the square footage and layout of each unit.
The restaurant has retained some of the existing ductwork. We have designed a solution that incorporates a condensing unit and a split system. The new condensing unit and air handler will use the existing ductwork to provide heating and cooling to the kitchen and dining area. Additionally, a split system unit has been installed in the dining area to ensure a comfortable experience for guests.
